Peak's Island, Tony's garden. (19 photos)

Lucy disappeared for a couple of days; when she came back, her tail was bent and limp. The best guess is that she didn't quite escape being hit by a car. She had two subsequent operations to amputate the tail (they didn't take enough off the first time around).

Becca's residency program has a monthly "journal club" to review articles in the medical literature. These are held at various doctor's houses. Once a year, they have one on Peak's Island (a short ferry ride from Portland), and families are invited as well. While the doctors discussed articles, the spouses and children hung out and made big bubbles.

Eva loves Tony Owens, a friend of ours who has a spectacular garden. We visit several times a summer, and he and Eva pick carrots, blueberries, green beans, and more.
