This has been the mildest winter we've had in Maine. We spent a few days at Maine Huts and Trails, a network of cross-country skiing trails connecting small camping lodges. The trailhead parking lot is a couple of miles from the first hut, and you carry your stuff in and out. The trip in was brutal; night was falling, Noah could barely ski, and the grownups were carrying too much. But when we left a couple of days later, we were all much improved skiiers, and the same route was easy & fun.
